The Common Ground Project USA began as content on a social media platform. The original concept was to bring together individuals with opposing viewpoints for discussions, hoping they would realize they had more in common than differences. One example was featuring a protestor and a store owner whose shop was destroyed during protests on the same episode. The goal was for them to see they weren’t on opposing sides but shared common desires. In our polarized society, the aim was to promote unity and highlight our shared humanity.

As I considered how to realize this vision, I turned to social media and observed interactions, especially among those with differing views. I noticed that people often didn’t engage in meaningful discussions. Instead, they would assert their viewpoints, and when met with resistance, resort to name-calling or blocking. There was little effort to understand opposing perspectives. This realization led me to understand that I needed to start with the individual, providing a safe space for people to share their stories and the experiences that shaped their beliefs.

In 2023, I launched a podcast called Common Ground w/ PhillyGoLive on a specific platform. Although I attempted to share it on other platforms, the quality wasn’t up to my standards, and it remained exclusive. I produced around twenty episodes before leaving the platform. I’m grateful for that opportunity, as it allowed me to grow and refine the concept. Since then, I’ve been passionate about restarting the podcast for a broader audience. Life intervened, but in early 2025, circumstances aligned, and my passion remained strong. I established my LLC and began preparing to relaunch the podcast this year. I’m currently acquiring the necessary equipment and software to ensure quality. I aim to start accepting guest requests by summer 2025 and release episodes by late summer or early fall.

You might have noticed that this isn’t called the Common Ground Podcast. Even in 2023, I envisioned more than just a podcast. While the podcast remains the heart of this project, I aspire to promote unity and common ground through various avenues.

This project is built upon three core components:

1. Personal Stories

Understanding someone’s beliefs requires knowing their personal story. Our unique experiences shape our perspectives. Embracing our differences enriches our collective narrative. To truly understand someone, we must understand their story.

2. Personal Talents

Our talents, influenced by our stories, allow us to impact the world uniquely. While many may share similar skills, it’s our individual journeys that make our contributions distinct. Whether it’s an athlete’s drive or an artist’s vision, personal stories infuse talents with uniqueness.

3. Community

Community provides the platform to share our stories and talents, enhancing our collective well-being. Sometimes we seek out communities; other times, they find us, helping us fulfill our purpose. Community is an essential part of this journey.
